This is the first time I entered birds in Fast Eddies Late Hatch Classic race and a California OLR in general. I had a couple late hatches in 2015, so I said “why not.” I sent two nest mates from one of my best pairs, Pachinko and Sweet Revenge. For those of you who have been […]

If you question five pigeon breeders on antibiotic usage you will most likely get five different answers. In most pigeon catalogs there are countless pages of antibiotic products ranging from broad spectrum “kill everything” antibiotics to antibiotics specific for certain bacteria or narrow spectrum antiobiotics. This article, however, is not about which antibiotics to use […]
Excited to announce that two years running the Flying Tigerz have placed very well and in the money at Flying Aces OLR. This is what we strive for, placing in the money with minimal bird entries . . . a sign of quality and consistency. This years accomplishment happened to fly in with a bird […]
The work continues on the replica loft. Finally found some military surplus paint and the olive drab is on. Next the stencils get painted on. Here are a couple pictures of the updates!
If you have spent some time at the club house, you most likely have heard the phrase “put some ACV in the water.” It’s an old trick that many pigeon racers swear by, and many others are in opposition to. The majority of the controversy is likely caused by the lack of knowledge surrounding the […]
There are hundreds of theories in pigeon racing on how to determine a good racing pigeon. To name a few, there is: eye sign, throat sign, general feather color, wing length, muscle density, steps between primary flights, keel depth, skin color, muscle vibration, birth order, overall handling, level of nervousness, ancestors/pedigrees, perch order, muscle elasticity, […]
Tuesday, June 16, 2015, the Minnesota Board of Animal had a meeting and decided to include the racing of pigeons in the ban set in place on May 15, 2015. To see the actual wording go to: https://www.bah.state.mn.us/exhibitions#poultry The addendum to the original ruling reads as follows: The directive also includes events involving pigeons, […]
Stepped up the one loft game just a little bit this year. 3 birds is the most I have ever entered in a one loft race, but of course that does not guarantee success. Best of luck to all flying this race, it should be fun. Here is the last entry:
It has been an extremely slow breeding season for me in 2015. I have moved out of WI back to MN with plans of pursuing my dream to open a distillery. Though it has been a complicated spring, I have managed to send some birds out for testing. Rob Ashby of Utah is handling one […]
In the Feb. 2015 edition of the Racing Pigeon Digest there is an unusual political article. Most articles I have read regarding pigeons and politics are in regards to the history of pigeons used for communication in war. Last year during Syria’s civil conflicts, an article and Youtube video showed the activist in Syria using […]
Not a bad pay out for having entered two birds in the race! I will be adding “Kieza” (14 VIK 1560) to the breeding loft this year, hopefully she produces youngsters that fly just like her!
Hello all, I am excited to announce that I have acquired all of my breeders for the 2015 race season. I have recently added a hen for Pachinko that is very similarly bred going back to the Super Mario x Aske pairing. I will be line breeding based on these performance birds from Danny Hutchins […]
S.I.G. decided to make the trip to Illinois for the Snowfest auction for the second year in a row! As usual, it was an absolute blast! Kevin, Dan, Koua, Shane I brought home 5 birds total, as well as had a great time talking to Frank McLaughlin and Rick Nanez. We were also fortunate enough […]
Flying Tigerz is excited to announce that out of two entries our bird AU 2014 VIK 1560 has taken 3rd over all in points and 3rd over all average speed for the Flying Aces OLR series! This hen felt incredible, and took 32nd place (2nd drop) @150 miles, 3rd place (1st drop) @ 200 miles, […]
The third race (300 mile) of the Flying Aces One Loft Race was a side wind race with overcast skies. The birds did 300 in 6.5 hrs, not too bad. 1560 came in on the first drop taking 5th place and equal first for points. Flying Tigerz still remain in 3rd place in points and […]
Does this bird have what it takes? So far it has been a tough race series, but we are cheering on this little bird! Two more races to go!!! Do you like average speed/high point one loft races (OLRs) or single race placement OLRs better? Personally, I think good birds can win top prizes, but […]
The last few weekends have been spent designing and building the new loft. It is fairly close to completion and is looking great!!! I will have a build thread one completed, its going to be a cool one for sure!
I am sorry to report that on September 13th, 2014 the Flying Tigerz have had another pair of breeders stolen. It is custom in our sport to support young members and first year flyers. What we do is lend them a breeding pair, so they start out with good racing stock. It’s much cheaper for […]
Greetings from across the world . . . Japan! Even on a whole different sleeping pattern, a pigeon racers mind is always on the birds! Thus, I have just won an auction on a new stud cock that I will be adding to the breeding program! Keep an eye on the FTz Birdz page, I […]
It’s been a slow build since I can usually only work on it one day a week, however, it is coming along nicely. See the progress pics below of the nest boxes and floor grate.
After the second weekend of working on the loft, its getting closer! We are working through the design and build and all I can say is . . . it’s gonna be one hell of a loft!
So far I have worked on the loft for about 6 hours total, mainly by myself. Coming along slowly but nicely. This will be gorgeous once its finished!
Did somebody say Flying Tigerz Army Signal Corps replica loft? YES! I am very excited for this project, I have always liked how pigeons played a large role in the military. Please check back for updates!!!
Hello everyone! It is April 14th, and yesterday there was a snow shower! The weather here has made it a tough breeding season. After my birds were stolen, I switched to individual breeding boxes for a couple key pairs I acquired. I do have to say that I am not having a good breeding season. […]
Excited to announce that two new breeders have arrived for the Flying Tigerz breeding program. I will update the FTz Birdz section with info and pictures! Please check them out!

Here is an interesting photo set on pigeon keepers in NYC who fly “fancies.” Flying “fancies” is an ancient sport where multiple large kits of pigeons are released at one time by competing fanciers. The kits naturally combine into one large flock. At this time, when a fanciers birds are mixed with other fanciers birds, […]
Here is an interview that Fox 9 did the day of the heist! Click the following link to watch a video of the interview and read the article:
Dan Feltenstein is a local MN racer who is 16th champion loft in the nation out of 2,711 lofts. He is relatively new to the sport, but works hard, trains hard and gets results! Dan privileged the Flying Tigerz by writing an article for the loft report, please check it out by clicking the […]
